Venom and A Star Is Born look to retain their top spots at the U.S. box-office judging by Friday’s figures, holding off high-profile First Man.
Variety reports that Venom will add an estimated $32 million to its total for the top spot, followed by A Star Is Born which is headed for a $28 million second weekend haul.
The Ryan Gosling-led First Man is coming in under expectations with $16 million, followed by the Goosebumps sequel at $15.75 million and Smallfoot at $9 million in its third week.
The Chris Hemsworth-led Bad Times at the El Royale is under performing, opening in seventh with $7.8 million. Fairing strong in limited release is Oscar hopeful Beautiful Boy with an estimated per-screen average of $81,250
