Mark Ruffalo is returning to HBO in an exciting new role that will have you seeing double. He is executive producing and playing twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in the limited series I Know This Much Is True, adapted from the best-selling Wally Lamb novel of the same name.
The limited series “follows the parallel lives of identical twin brothers in what is described as an epic story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness that is set against the backdrop of 20th century America,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Place Beyond the Pines writer Derek Cianfrance will write and direct the series as well as executive produce with Ruffalo.
The Avengers actor’s last forray into television was also with HBO when he played the lead and executive produced Ryan Murphy’s The Normal Heartin 2014. He was nominated for an Emmy for his performance and The Normal Heart won for Outstanding Limited Movie the same year.
The series is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming in 2019.
