Deadline has noted Zac Efron is in talks to join while Kate Hudson and comedy actor Craig Robinson are set to star in writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour’s third feature film Blood Moon at Le Grisbi.
Set in hedonistic streets of New Orleans, the fantasy film follows a girl with strange and dangerous abilities who escapes from a local mental asylum. The tone is said to be inspired by fantasy-adventure movies of the 1980s and 1990s.
Strange, violent, and humorous sequences will blend with various music stylings from heavy metal to Italian techno.
Oscar-winning Birdman producer John Lesher is also working on the film which aims to begin shooting in the Spring.
Amirpour created the celebrated Iranian vampire film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night in 2014 followed by the 2016 Jason Momoa-led post-apocalyptic The Bad Batch. More recently she’s directed episodes of several series including Legion and Castle Rock.
