The ceremony will include authentic props and memorabilia displays, along with appearances by artists, writers, actors, and celebrities connected to the Batman mythos. Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on-sale June 3 at ccmgathering.org
Created in 1939 by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman appeared in an Action Comics #12 ad then made his full-fledged debut with National Comic Publications’ Detective Comics. Batman quickly became one of the company’s most popular heroes, with the company eventually re-naming itself “DC Comics” (as in Detective Comics Comics) in tribute to the Dark Knight. DC recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of the character with this week’s Detective Comics #1000.
