The U.S. Supreme Court today ruled that an antitrust lawsuit can proceed against Apple for the way it runs its App Store.
Today’s ruling only affirms that the consumers bringing the suit have the right to do so; it does not touch on the merits of the case. The case will now proceed in lower courts, which may take years.
At issue is whether Apple can require that apps be purchased through its store, where it takes a 30% cut and imposes rules on pricing that may inflate prices.
