CBS has placed an series order for The Lincoln Lawyer. David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, The Practice) will writing and executive producing the legal series which based on the novels by Michael Connelly. Lionsgate previously produced a film adaptation in 2011 starring Matthew McConaughey as Haller.
The story follows Mickey Haller, an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles.
In Connelly’s novels, Haller is the half-brother of LAPD Detective Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch with those novels being adapted into Amazon’s successful series “Bosch” starring Titus Welliver. That show was just renewed for a sixth season and isn’t expected to crossover with the CBS series.
The new series is Kelley’s return to broadcast TV with A+E Studios and CBS Television Studios producing it.
