Actress Shari Headley (Goosebumps 2) has agreed to reprise her role of Lisa McDowell in the upcoming Coming to America sequel at Paramount Pictures.
Headly is the last of the surviving core cast of the original film to return for the follow-up. In the original, she played the love interest and eventual wife to Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem. She joins Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Paul Bates, Louie Anderson and John Amos.
The new story sees Akeem, now set to become king of Zamunda, discovering he has a son he never knew about – a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler). Akeem honors his dying father King Jaffe Joffer’s wish to groom the newly found son as a crowned prince, and so Akeem must once again return to America.
Wesley Snipes, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Rick Ross, and KiKi Layne also co-star in the Craig Brewer-directed film.
Coming 2 America is set to hit theaters December 18th next year.
