Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment had acquired the rights to the “Tank Girl comics with plans for a film adaptation already in development.
Now comes word that Miles Joris-Peyrafitte, who most recently helmed the upcoming Dreamland starring Robbie, Travis Fimmel and Garrett Hedlund, will re-team with the actress to direct the Tank Girl film which Robbie produces.
The 1988 comic hails from creators Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett and follows a tank operator who travels around a post-apocalyptic hellscape doing odd jobs and getting into trouble – ultimately rising up to destroy a tyrannical government that has seized control of the already scarce water supply.
Tank Girl is being developed for Robbie to star while Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara will produce. A script has yet been written. Tank Girl was previously adapted into a film in 1995 by director Rachel Talalay. That starred Lori Petty, Ice-T, Naomi Watts, Malcolm McDowell, Jeff Kober, Don Harvey, and Reg E. Cathey.
