Patriot has rolled out a new SSD for those wanting or needed top performance from their SSD. The drive is called the Viper VP4100 M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x4 SSD .
Patriot claims sequential read speeds up to 5GB/s and write speeds up to 4.4 GB/s. The drive is rated for up to 800k random read and write IOPS, and is optimized for multi-threaded and data-intensive applications with 4K Aligned Random Read and Write tech. The only folks that will be able to take full advantage of this PCIe 4.0 SSDĀ at this time are owners systems based on the AMD Ryzen 3000 cpu running on X570-based motherboards.
The VP4100 use a Phision PCIe 4.0 controller and has an external thermal sensor that is designed to monitor internal temperatures and prevent overheating. The drive uses an aluminum heatshield to dissipate heat under heavy workloads. Despite the the hard core heatsink, the SSD is only 3mm high so it can fit in any PCIe slot and is built on a 10-layer PCB for signal integrity and stability.
The VP4100 SSD is available at $599.99 MSRP for the 2TB drive and $399.99 MSRP for the 1TB drive.
