RLJE Films has released the official trailer for Color Out of Space, the upcoming Nicolas Cage-led film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s famed 1927 short story.
The film is set around rural New England where a family moves to escape the hustle of the 21st century. They are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard. The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly color.
To their horror, the Gardner family discover that this alien force is gradually mutating every life form that it touches … including them. Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight, Julian Hilliard and Q’Orianka Kilcher co-star.
The film marks the long-awaited return of Richard Stanley, the South African-born filmmaker of cult hits Hardware and Dust Devil who penned and was to direct 1996’s film adaptation of H.G. Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau but was famously replaced by John Frankenheimer a week into filming. The resulting production was an epic disaster.
Color Out of Space will arrive in cinemas on January 24th 2020.
