Walt Disney Pictures has changed up its film release schedule, pushing out Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman prequel The King’s Man by seven months, and setting dates for a whole new bunch of projects including multiple Marvel films.
The King’s Man was to open February 14th next year but will now hit in the early Fall – specifically September 18th 2020.
The house of mouse has also set a Christmas Day 2020 limited release date for Ridley Scott’s period revenge drama The Last Duel starring Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer. That film will go wide on January 8th 2021.
The studio has has laid out the dates for the ‘fifth phase’ of the MCU which will kick off from 2022 with February 18th, May 6th and July 29th. Joining that phase today are films set for October 7th 2022, February 17th 2023, May 5th 2023, July 28th 2023 and November 3rd 2023.
Marvel studios will have only two films next year – Black Widow and The Eternals. For 2021-2023 they’ll be releasing four films a year. Contenders for those Phase Five slots include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Black Panther II, Ant-Man 3, and either a new Deadpool flick or potentially the Blade reboot film.
Also Ben Affleck-led thriller Deep Water is now set for November 13th 2020.
