It’s official, multiple Grammy nominee Billie Eilish has written and will perform the theme song for Cary Fukunaga’s new James Bond film No Time To Die opening in cinemas in April.

Ellish herself has confirmed the news on her Twitter account, that confirmation following one from the official James Bond account which confirmed that four-time Grammy winner and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer has signed on as the new composer for the film which was first indicated last week.

In a statement to the official Bond account, Ellish says: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Eilish teased the announcement earlier with a series of Instagram stories featuring Bond actresses in direct response to tabloid rumours she had gotten the gig. At 18 years old she’s the youngest artist to ever sing a Bond theme song and follows on from Oscar-winning songs from Adele and Sam Smith for “Skyfall” and “Spectre” respectively.

The new film stars Daniel Craig as James Bond, Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rami Malek as the villain Safin, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, Ana De Armas as Paloma, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Ben Whishaw as Q and Lashana Lynch as Nomi. The film also stars Billy Magnussen, Rory Kinnear, David Denick and Dali Benssalah.

The story sees Bond recruited to rescue a kidnapped scientist and finds himself hot on the trail of a mysterious villain, one armed with dangerous new technology.
