Pentax announced At Photokina its 645D medium format digital camera will begin shipping in December in both the US and the UK.
In the US, the body only will be priced at $10,000, while UK buyers will need to pay the equivalent of $14,150 for the body or in kit with a DFA 55mm 645 SDM lens for about $15,700. The camera has a 40-megapixel, 44x33mm CCD sensor and a 3-inch LCD with a 921k resolution.
Pentax’ first medium-format camera is meant for outdoor use. The camera is compatible with current 645 lenses. It sports a semi-rugged body with 70 seals for resistance to dust, water and low temperatures.
