Boinx has updated their iStopMotion application for Mac to v2.5, bringing Tilt Shift photography and support for sharing directly to iMovie along with enhanced color-correction abilities. Tilt Shift is a popular photographic illusion that manipulates the depth of field on long-shots in a manner to fool the brain into thinking it is looking at miniature-scale models.
The new “Send to iMovie” command allows for quick export of stop-motion animation to iMovie 8 or later. Color can be corrected in iStopMotion itself (Express or Pro versions) or in iMovie. The program also now includes full support for Canon DSLR
models, and if Final Cut Studio or Logic Studio are installed, iStopMotion can leverage their HDV camera support.
To show off the new Tilt Shift capability, the company is promoting a video found on Facebook by Bastion Wolfe which shows the functionality in action.
The update to v2.5 is free for all iStopMotion 2 license holders. New customers can purchase iStopMotion in one of three editions: Home ($49) for casual users, Express ($99) aimed at enthusiasts who need power features but not the high-end professional tools, and Pro ($499) which is intended for high end productions.
