The Venue Pro will get a much wider launch than it had earlier this month. The phone so far has been an Microsoft Store exclusive.
Dell’s Chief Blogger Lionel Menchaca said the company is scaling up production and wants to have a “bigger scale” launch. He didn’t specify a timeframe but did hint the Windows Phone 7 device would sell beyond T-Mobile and possibly beyond the US.
Menchaca also corroborated AT&T’s claims about risks around using microSD cards in current WP7 phones and warned against the specific dangers of using any replacement card for Dell’s phone. On the Venue Pro, the pre-installed microSD card includes part of the mobile OS itself and will break the install if the card is removed.
Engineers are also looking into reports of problems with the headphone jack and with camera settings not saving, although the latter is believed to be a WP7 issue.
The Venue Pro has an 4.1-inch, slightly curved AMOLED screen and its having the only vertical QWERTY keyboard in the entire range.
