A bug in Adobe Flash Player that leaves users vulnerable to hacker attacks has been addressed by Google for its Chrome browser. Other browsers won’t get a fix until Adobe releases one, however, says UK daily The Guardian.
Google has a partnership with Adobe ships its own version of Flash player with the Chrome browser. This patership also gives Google access to access new builds of Flash early.
Adobe needs to test its fix on nearly 60 platforms but it should release the update this week.
The bug puts a malicious Flash file in an Excel document, sends it to specific people and compromises Windows-based computers. Microsoft maintains that users of Office 2010 are protected thanks to a security system called data execution prevention.
