Electronic Arts today announced it is all eliminating paper game manuals and reducing printed materials in its packaged products by 40 percent. The publisher says this initiative will apply to all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC games worldwide going forward. Ubisoft began removing paper manuals from its games last April.
The paper game manuals will be replaced with “easily-accessible” on-disc manuals available through the options menu. “This will allow players to conveniently view instructional information on the fly as they play,” EA says. Digital manuals can also be viewed online and downloaded at http://support.ea.com/app/manuals.
EA is also starting to use Reduced Material DVD Style Cases (RMCs) for PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and PC-DVD retail products.
