iSkin has launched a new line of earphones called EarTones with built-in mics that are specifically designed for iOS devices but also work well with Macs using programs like Skype, iChat and FaceTime. The microphone features call and iPod control on iOS devices, including the iPad 2, and the earphones offer other innovations like an anti-bacterial coating and a flexible neck to give the earbuds an even better fit.
The company says the ear buds and mic come with Microban, an anti-bacterial coating to inhibit the growth of fungus or odor-causing bacteria. The buds also feature an industry-first flexible neck that allows the earbuds to flex when inserted for greater comfort. The mic works with programs that respond to voice command, such as the iOS Google app, and also supports the voice control features of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
EarTones come in a variety of color combinations, including Black/Black, Black/Red, Black/White, Pink/Black, Blue/White and Purple/White. Technical specs have not been published by iSkin, but the sound quality is described on its website as offering “a wide dynamic range of high-definition audio.” The EarTones are available for order now and cost $39.99.
