Netbook Navigator this week began offering pre-orders for its NAV7 Slate PC. The seven-inch tablet uses a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and runs on Windows 7. In trying to recreate the desktop experience, portable device doesn’t run solely on its touchscreen and has both a touchpad and buttons.
A 1.8-inch SSD provides the core storage and can be optioned up to 64GB. Users can upgrade up to 2GB of RAM, and there are two USB ports built-in. An accelerometer, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are integrated with every model, while a 3G modem is optional. The device is relatively heavy for its size at 1.25 pounds. The battery is user-interchangeable but rated at four hours of life.
The NAV7 is available in 30 different configurations, with the basic one starting at $649. The first shipments are expected in May.
