Compulabs has began selling its Trim Slice smart top PC to both OEMs and end users. The device is meant for home use but uses the NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU that was designed for mobile devices. The 1GHz chip is paired with 1GB of RAM and pretty much everything else is optional.
Such a standard model costs $199, while the value device adds a 4GB microSD memory card and a Wi-Fi dongle. It lists for $219. The flagship Pro model gets Wi-Fi and Bluetooth through dongles along with a 32GB SSD and trades for $319. All have ARM Ubuntu preinstalled along with a warning that the casual user isn’t the target market for the device.
Ports include four USB 2.0 ports, a micro USB connection, Ethernet, SD and microSD card slots, HDMI 1.3a, DVI-D and an optical audio output. Either the optical or the HDMI ports handle 5.1-channel surround sound audio
