The “Cedar Crest Crushers” recently edged out 144 other teams in the National Senior League Wii Bowling Competition to become the 2011 National Champions.

The team of seniors recently defeated the team Morichi 1, which was composed of seniors from a retirement center in Belle Vernon, Pa. (just outside of Pittsburgh), by 179 pins over two games.

In honor of their victory, the Crushers received a glass trophy engraved with the NSL logo and “2011 Champions,” which was presented to them by NSL President and Founder Dennis Berkholtz, who was in attendance.

Perfect Game

A former Jacksonville resident waggled his way to a perfect 300 game at a statewide Wii Sports Bowling championship for senior citizens.

Jim Nyberg, 74, and his team the Springfield Splitters took third place in the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition’s second annual Wii Bowling Championship on April 27.

Nyberg and his team from Springfield Supportive Living competed against three others at the championship. The four were the top scoring teams out of more than 60 from Supportive Living communities in Illinois.
