The Samsung 9 Series ultra-thin and portable notebook introduced at CES is now available for purchasein the US. The smaller version weighs just 2.31 pounds. In its current trim, it gets Intel’s 1.33GHz Core i3 ultra-low voltage CPU with integrated HD 3000 graphics.
To keep the profile slim at 0.65 inches, a solid state drive is used, in a 64GB capacity and preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. RAM is set at 2GB and cannot be expanded. The screen has a 1366×768 resolution and a 340-nit brightness rating. Wi-Fi, WiMAX and an Ethernet port are the web connection options, while Bluetooth 3.0 can sync with electronics. Two USB 2.0, a single USB 3.0 and a micro HDMI connections are present, as is a microSD slot.
An integrated four-cell, 5,680mAh battery is said to provide as much as seven hours of life. The notebook also gets Intel’s Wireless Display technology and a multi-touch trackpad. There is a 1.3-megapixel webcam and dual 1.5W stereo speakers onboard as well.
The model described above carries an $1,160 price tag.
