T-Mobile has updated its prepaid mobile text and data plans over the weekend. While the prepaid page is down right now, the new single-user service options include 500, 1,000 or unlimited minutes while text messaging adds $10. Data can be added for between $10 for 200MB and $60 for 10GB.
The family plans include 1,000, 2,000 and unlimited minutes services that related users can share. Data and text come in the same amounts, but cost twice as much as the individual pre-paid plans. The mid-tier plans do not allow adding texting or data, however, and users can’t opt for unlimited minutes without adding text. T-Mobile also changed its policy for charging for data overage and instead drop speeds to 2G once a user crosses his monthly allowance.
At the same time, the provider revamped its fine print, changing its restocking fees for returned devices. It goes from $10 for all devices to $50 for smartphones, $75 for tablets and $25 for USB modems or basic phones.
