Nike+ GPS 3.1, Update Increases Accuracy, Audio Options

Nike has put out a new version of its Nike+ GPS app for iOS, v3.1. The update is comparatively major, making some feature additions and a number of refinements. The app should now run faster overall for example, and provide better accuracy in terms of accelerometer and GPS data.

Audio has been improved to allow control over whether phone calls pause a run, and whether ending or pausing a run will stop music. Voiceover feedback can be configured or turned off completely. Other changes include the ability to sign in via Facebook or Twitter, or play a new Nike+ Tag game called Last to Run, in which the last person to sync a run is declared “it.” Tag also newly supports searching for people by username.

Nike+ GPS requires iOS 4, and runs on iPhones and iPod touches. The title is really designed for iPhones though, since much of its functionality is dependent on GPS, and the Touch already has Nike+iPod integration. The app is temporarily free.
