A new service for the Nintendo 3DS that will provide several minutes of original 3D television content begins today in Japan. The free service, which translates as SpotPass TV in English, is the result of collaboration between Nintendo and the Fuji TV network. After setting subscription options, the clips will be downloaded automatically to the 3DS. Clips from eight shows are available, ranging from reality television to animal shows. SpotPass TV plans to make more shows available.
At launch the shows available for the 3DS include: Scheduled Animals’ Calendar, an animal infotainment show; Suddenly, View Special Selected Tracks 3D, a train show; 3D Magic Classroom, which teaches magic tricks; Idling! 3D Sumo Place: a challenge format game show; Pop Daily: A short form drama that centers on trivia; Forest of 3D Sculptures, a tour of the Hakone Open Air Museum, Japan’s first outdoor museum; and Enjoy! Sport, a sports show
