Vizio Shows Roadmap for TVs for the Rest of 2011

Vizio has detailed its roadmap for TVs in the second half of 2011, including its first Google TV sets. The XVT 6 series in 47- and 55-inch forms will run the new Android 3.1 TV platform along with its Via Plus services. The sets will carry 480Hz LCD panels, support both Bluetooth and touchpad controls, and come with four pairs of 3D glasses when they ship in December.

Although they won’t have Google TV, a new set of XVT Razor Cinemawide screens will give viewers a movie theater-like 21:9 aspect ratio much like Philips’ Cinema 21:9 TVs with a 2560×1080 picture. The 50- and 58-inch sets will refresh at a more modest 120Hz and don’t have touchpad controls, but they do have smart-dimming LED backlights, Bluetooth support and four pairs of 3D glasses. Both sizes are due in October.

A mid-tier M3D Razor line uses 240Hz, standard ratio displays with regular Vizio apps and Bluetooth. Three sizes will be available between 42 and 55 inches, with the smaller two shipping in August and the 55-inch version arriving in September.
