Acer has began shipping its latest netbook, the Aspire One AOD257, in the USA. The 10.1-inch portable gets the new 1.66GHz, dual-core Intel Atom N570 CPU and integrated GMA 3150 graphics. Its design includes water ripple effects on the outside of the lid, and the netbook can now be had in black, white or red, with blue coming soon.
Otherwise, users get 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive preloaded with Windows 7 Starter. The LED-backlit screen has 1024×600 resolution and other standard features include a 0.3-megapixel camera, stereo speakers, three USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, a VGA output and memory card reader. A three-cell battery with a four-hour lifespan is available on a light, 2.56lb model.
