Yamaha on Tuesday revamped its Aventage home theater receivers with an increased focus on mobile. The entire line, the RX-A710, RX-A810, RX-A2010, RX-A1010, and RX-3010, now has complete support for both iPhone remote control as well as front USB ports to play music directly from iOS hardware. Android is also finally getting support and will have its own remote app in the fall.
The receivers also improve Yamaha’s overall audio. The RX-A2010 and RX-3010 are Yamaha’s first 9.2-channel receivers and respectively put out up to 140W and 150W across each satellite. They can also bring in front virtual presence speakers in one zone or create another zone for a separate stereo audio source. A new VHD1900 video processing chipset comes onboard. Beyond extra power, the A3010 adds new Cinema DSP HD3 processing to improve the vertical sound field.
The A710, A810, and A1010 put out 90W, 100W, and 110W of power per channel across a more conventional 7.2-channel arrangement.
All of the receivers can handle DLNA media sharing, Internet radio over MP3 and WMA, and access to Rhapsody as well as Sirius XM’s Internet component. They can all decode Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio with HDMI 1.4a for 3D video, and all but the A710 and A810 can output two simultaneous video feeds over HDMI.
Yamaha is planning a gradual rollout starting from this month and wrapping up in the fall. Prices start at $650 for the A710 and move to $850 for the A810, $1,100 for the A1010, $1,600 for the $1,600, and $2,000 for the flagship A3010.
