D&M Holdings (Denon, Maritz, Sonicblue) has backflipped on its decision announced last month to pull the pin on its ReplayTV programming guide service. It originally said that it would phase out its EPG on July 31. However, it has apparently received a lot of feedback from the users of the service and in response has decided to continue the service indefinitely.
D&M Holdings has issued a new statement on the matter:
“After the announced shutdown of the ReplayTV programming guide service, we have had many positive, enthusiastic comments about the ReplayTV DVR products and services. In light of this response, ReplayTV and its parent company Digital Networks North America, Inc. have decided to continue the electronic programming guide service pursuant to the terms of your service activation agreement. We thank you very much for all of your support and enthusiasm over the many years these products have been sold.”
The reason given for shuttering the service on July 31 was put down to the switch to HD television broadcasting being complete and that ReplayTV devices aren’t equipped to take advantage of it. It seems, though, that enough users have voiced their concerns for D&M Holdings to reverse its original decision
