Samsung has just taken the wraps off its latest, a rugged Android smartphone dubbed Xcover. It meets IP67 standards for water, which can let it sit in up to three feet of water for 30 minutes, as well as for dust and shock resistance. Its 3.6-inch touchscreen is covered by scratch-resistant, tempered glass.
A 3.2-megapixel camera has an LED flash that doubles as a flashlight when needed. The device runs Android 2.3 and has Samsung’s Social Hub preloaded. It has an HSDPA radio for download speeds up to 7.2Mbps.
The Xcover will ship in Germany and the Ukraine this October, though if it arrives in other countries hasn’t been revealed.
