ASUS has quietly posted an official page for the Eee Pad Slider that confirms many of its details. The unique tablet has the same Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of storage as the Transformer but, because of the built-in keyboard, will necessarily be a lot bulkier at 0.68 inches deep and 2.12 pounds. It should ship with Android 3.1 from the start and already has a promise of upgrading to at least Android 3.2.
Without a keyboard dock of its own, all expansion is dictated by the tablet itself and includes one each of USB, mini HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD slot. Cameras are the same as on the Transformer and bring a five-megapixel rear camera with a 1.2-megapixel front camera. Display quality is still a comparative focus, as it has the same 10-inch panel as the Transformer.
The Slider is expected to reach many countries in September. A 16GB edition should cost the same $400 as a Transformer in the US but may get an unusually steep $550 price for the 32GB design.
