Nuance Communications announced it is adding developer support for Windows Phone and a three tiered service structure to its NDEV Mobile Developer Program. The company’s Dragon Mobile SDK is now available for all major mobile platforms, including Windows Phone 7.1+, iOS 4.0+ and Android 2.1+. A HTTP web services interface is also available. In addition, the company said all three service tiers will have access to eight new languages for voice recognition.
NDEV Silver Services gives developers the ability to deploy their apps for free on the Windows Phone, iOS, and Android platforms. It includes free access to Nuance’s connected text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities in over 30 languages. TTS gives apps read aloud/read back functions in email, messaging, and handsfree voice apps. NDEV Silver also provides access to Bluetooth use cases and access to the Dragon Mobile Developer Center’s on-line forums, code samples, and full documentation.
NDEV Gold Services gives all of the above, plus access to SSL data encryption, analytics tools, and Nuance’s HTTP web service interface. NDEV Gold also includes one-on-one Nuance assistance.
NDEV Emerald Services adds custom vocabularies and grammars, user experience consulting, speech integration and advanced text-to-speech. It also includes high-availability deployment and dedicated account management resources.
All levels of membership include eight new speech-to-text languages supported by the Dragon Mobile SDK. They are Canadian French, Americas Spanish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean, Taiwan Mandarin, and Cantonese. The Dragon SDK already had support for US, Australian and UK English, European Spanish, European French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese for dictation and search. The company said additional languages be added through the end of the year.
