Rogers significantly expanded its LTE-based 4G service with three new cities and details of its tablet and smartphone plans. The once Ottawa-only service is now live in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, covering most of the Canadian population. The expansion is matched by a new, much stronger promo plan that lets users pay $53 per month for 10GB if they sign up for a three-year contract.
The company has finally expanded its device listings beyond its current AirCard modem. Its first LTE-equipped tablet will be the HTC Jetstream, the same device that launched on AT&T earlier this month. The 10-inch slate uses a slightly customized Android 3.1 and runs on a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon, 32GB of storage with a microSDHC slot, and both eight-megapixel back and 1.3-megapixel front cameras.
As with its American equivalent, the Jetstream commands a premium over any other tablet, costing $500 even with a three-year contract and $800 contract-free.
