Verizon Wireless continues its quest to roll out its LTE-based 4G network in 13 new cities on November 17. At the same time, it will expand it in five existing markets. At that time, it should have a 178 total cities where 4G is available.
The new markets that will light up on November 17 include Little Rock, Arkansas; Savannah, Georgia; Cedar Rapids and Des Moines in Iowa; Lexington, Kentucky; Kansas City and Springfield in Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; Orange County, New York; Greater Providence, Rhode Island; Rapid City, South Dakota; Roanoke, Virginia; and Appleton, Wisconsin.
The networks in Louisville, Kentucky; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Nashville, Tennessee will also be expanded to cover a wider area.
Verizon offers 13 4G LTE wireless devices, including smartphones, tablets and data sticks. 4G speeds range from an average of between 5Mbps and 12Mbps on downloads and between 2 and 5Mbps on the upload. Going outside of the network will automatically switch users back to 3G speeds.
