Motorola just revealed over Facebook that the Droid Bionic will get an update to Android 4.0. The release date of the update will be set once Google releases the final version of the mobile operating system, Motorola said. The OS will first show up in the Galaxy Nexus, due out in November.
This makes it more than likely that theĀ will be updated to the latest OS before year’s end. Android 4.0 will the first version of the OS that’s meant to be equally at home whether loaded onto a smartphone or a tablet. It will bring many more changes, including a new approach to the home screen and widgets, heavily revamped core apps, and a much stronger emphasis on the camera.
Google hasn’t said if users will need faster hardware than what Android 2.3 needs to run 4.0, although hardware makers are targeted version 4 at dual-core processors handsets.
