The ASUS U24E notebook unofficially tipped up just yesterday has now been made official in Japan. The 11.6-inch notebook will ship on November 6 for 59,800 yen (about $770), and there is still no word on a North American release. It is an inexpensive way to access the performance of Intel’s 2.4GHz Core i5 processor, however.
Other specs include a 750GB hard drive, 720p display, 4GB of RAM, Intel graphics with an HDMI output, and an SDXC memory card reader. There are also two USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) camera. Battery life is a claimed seven hours. The notebook should weigh 3.3lbs, or 0.9lbs more than the costlier but same-sized Zenbook/UX21.
