The next video game featuring Spider-Man will have the Marvel superhero returning to his free-roaming ways.
Activision announced it will publish a game based on the film The Amazing Spider-Man next summer for the Nintendo DS and 3DS, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
According to a statement released by Activision, it appears this Spider-Man game will feature an open environment that players can explore as they choose. Recent titles starring the web-slinger have featured more linear gameplay focused heavily on combat.
The Amazing Spider-Man video game is being developed by Beenox, which also worked on Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
The game’s story will follow Peter Parker right after the events of the film, set to hit theaters July 3.
A trailer for the game will appear during Spike TV’s Video Game Awards this Saturday night.
