Samsung Vacuum Tube, Regular Audio Docks for iOS and Galaxy Heading to CES

Samsung preceded CES with a pair of audio docks aimed both at its Galaxy S smartphones and, ironically, iOS devices. The Audio Dock with Vacuum Tube Amplifier, or the DA-E750, mixes both a digital amp and a vacuum tube pre-amp for what it hopes is a mix of accurate sound with warm tones. Samsung is also promising full wireless support for its own Android devices as well as iOS, including Apple’s AirPlay, Samsung’s AllShare (DLNA), and Bluetooth.

The E750 promises much more power than most audio docks, with 100W of power and a dedicated subwoofer. Listeners can use either line-in or USB to take audio from sources that don’t fit the dock, which can scale up from anything from iPods through to Galaxy hardware and the iPad.

A step down to the regular Audio Dock, the DA-E670, brings regular digital processing and 40W of power with a subwoofer. It still supports AirPlay, Bluetooth, and DLNA. It too has aux-in and USB.

Samsung hasn’t given out ship dates or prices for either Audio Dock.
