Pentax has introduced yet another set of rugged point-and-shoot cameras, the Optio WG-2 and WG-2 GPS. Both feature backlit 16-megapixel sensors capable of shooting 1080p video at 30fps, while a “microscope” mode utilizes a ring of six LEDs to light shots as close as 1cm from the lens.

The cameras integrate a 5X optical zoom lens, which moves internally to avoid compromising the rugged housing. Users can submerge the camera in depths of up to 40 feet, or take pictures in temperatures down to 14 degrees F. Shots and videos are previewed on a three-inch display with 480×320 resolution and an anti-reflective coating.

Both models are expected to ship in March, with the standard model priced at $350 and available in black or red colors. The WG-2 GPS adds GPS functionality, bringing the price up to $400, with orange and white color schemes.
