AT&T has now released the free U-verse iPad app, meant as a companion to the TV watching experience. U-verse TV subscribers can get extra information and bonus content through the app on the TV show they’re watching, such as photos, cast and crew data, similar shows, a synopsis, and more. The app will also turn the iPad into a remote control and a guide, letting users schedule DVR recordings and see what’s coming up.
There is also an advanced search feature for finding TV shows and recommendations, as well as the ability to share what’s being watched on Facebook. The app will let users make a TV out of the iPad, with a number of TV shows and movies delivered over Wi-Fi. The selection depends on the TV package users subscribe to and is said to be constantly updated.
The iPad needs to be synced with each U-verse receiver individually, though they can then be named to keep track of them for switching later on.
