HP’s latest Z1 Workstation claims to be the first of its kind with a 27-inch screen. It easily opens without any tools so parts can be swapped quickly and easily. On offer is Intel’s 3.33GHz Core i3 for a processor, but it also carries one of two Xeons, either the 3.3GHz E3-1245 or the 3.5GHz E3-1280.
As much as 32GB of RAM can fit in the pro system.
Depending on the workload, the Z1 can be specified with NVIDIA’s Q4000M graphics for 3D support in fields such as CAD and other tasks that require fast rendering. There is otherwise a 400W power supply aboard strong enough to handle all the higher-end components, along with a 1080p webcam and dual-layer DVD-RW writer. A Blu-ray drive is an option. The base hard drive is a 250GB, 7,200RPM unit, but it can be bumped up to 2TB in capacity. A 10,000RPM drive up to 600GB can be had, as can a 300GB SSD for higher speeds.
The LED-backlit IPS display has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.
The system should ship in April, with prices starting at $1,900.
