RIM appears to have inadvertently corroborated rumors pointing to February 21 as the launch date for the PlayBook 2.0 OS update. The company noted the specific release date during a webcast that focused on developing games using the BlackBerry NDK 2.0.

The release brings a significant overhaul to RIM’s tablet OS, bringing redesigned calendar, messaging and e-mail utilities. Users will finally be able to run Android apps on the PlayBook, fulfilling a promise that was originally expected last year.
Unofficial sources recently pointed to February 21 for public availability, though Mobile World Congress at the end of the month has also been viewed as a potential venue for the formal debut
