US Cellular has a teaser page up for its version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, promising to ship it soon. It will run on the carrier’s 3G network and thus gets the overall faster 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor instead of the 1.5GHz Snapdragon in the 4G-capable versions. The screen is nonetheless the larger, 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, and an eight-megapixel camera with LED flash continues to sit out back.
Android 2.3 is preloaded, as is Swype for quicker text input. There is 16GB of storage space that can be expanded by as much as 32GB thanks to a microSD card slot.
The Galaxy S II will cost $230 after both signing a two-year smartphone-level contract and getting a $100 mail-in rebate. It ships at an undisclosed date.
