With the full launch of the PS Vita in the US today, Sony has released a number of new games and apps in the online PlayStation Store. Users can now download the free Flickr, Live Tweet, and Netflix apps. Flickr is a photo-sharing site that lets users join groups and make personalized photo streams.
LiveTweet is a Twitter app that lets users find and follow others, write and share Tweets, as well as Retweet and view updates from friends on the PS Vita.
Netflix gives subscribers access to unlimited TV episodes and movies, but can only be accessed over Wi-Fi. Reports of attempts to watch movies over 3G resulted in no access, as the 20MB cap on 3G data is associated with the app. A one-month free trial is offered to users who aren’t yet Netflix subscribers. The app is also available to PS Vita owners in Canada and Latin America.
At the same time, Sony has launched the PS Vita Games category on the PlayStation Store and 11 games. Three of them are free, including Cliff Diving, Table Soccer, and Fireworks, some of which use the Vita’s cameras for augmented reality.
