A Brooklyn-based company, Breakfast, is looking to raise funds through Kickstarter to get its InstaPrint project into production. Basically a mobile printer running on Linux, it uses Zink’s inkless technology to print Instagram photos from Wi-Fi-connected iPhones and iPods. The photos include comments and are searched for by user-specified hashtags.
Those who contribute at least $5 to Breakfast over the Kickstarter page will receive an InstaPrint photo in the mail, while $399 will provide in a basic system. A pledge of $1,449 will buy a pro kit, with one Wi-Fi hub, three InstaPrint devices, and 80 sheets of Zink paper, and there are more options as well.
The company’s goal is to raise $500,000 by the end of April, though it’s now at about $66,000 from 254 backers. If the goal is met, the Breakfast team promises to ship a new and improved InstaPrint system for sale by late this summer.
