One of the fun elements to role-playing adventure The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim — outside of slaying dragons or getting clubbed by a giant and soaring into the air like a fastball off the bat of Albert Pujols — is the “kill cam.”
When a player pulls off a strike that vanquishes an opponent, they get a dynamic, gritty camera view that adds some flair to their finishing blow.
Originally, it was meant for melee attacks only. But thanks to a massive update detailed in publisher Bethesda Softworks official blog, it will apply to ranged and magic kills as well.
There’s also video, for those who want a better look at the changes.
The update will address several bugs as well as add extra kill moves and animations for melee attacks. It’s available now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Perhaps the most astonishing revelation tied to this announcement is how much time players have spent exploring Skyrim. The Bethesda blog post notes the average time logged in the game across PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 is a whopping 85 hours. Also, 30% of players have clocked in more than 100 hours of gameplay.
