Elgato has announced the Game Capture HD, a new device that captures game footage from video game consoles and records it to your hard drive. The Game Capture HD is very small, gets all the power it needs from USB2 port.
The device connects to the Xbox 360 through HDMI, and the PS3 using an AV input. It is capable of 480i, 576p, 720p, and 1080i video capture, encoding videos on-the-fly in H.264 at bitrates up to 30Mbps, depending on resolution. The device comes with software for Mac and Windows enabling users to edit and share videos to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or e-mail.
The Game Capture requires a Mac running OS X 10.7 or later with a 2GHz dual-core Intel processor, or a PC running Windows 7 with at least a 2GHz dual-core processor. The Game Capture HD will be available starting June 1, at a price of $200.
