Apple today released a dedicated app for finding, downloading, and listening to podcasts on iOS devices. Podcast functionality was previously part of the Music and iTunes apps. The new app continues Apple’s recent efforts to de-couple non-music functions from iTunes, and to create an ecosystem that’s more mobile-centric, instead of computer-centric.
The app includes ways to find and subscribe to podcasts, plus social sharing features. Playback controls include variable speed playback. The app is available now, for free, from Apple’s App Store.
