Samsung has started shipping its Series 9 LED monitor to the US. The 27-inch monitor, aimed at design professionals, uses an exclusive Natural Color Expert Technology, which claims to provide a richer viewing experience. A separately sold sensor performs the in-home adjustments using the built-in calibration engine, with an hour-long adjustment process also applied at the factory.
The screen has a Quad HD resolution of 2560 by 1440, a static contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a backlit Plane Line Switching panel that is said to help prevent color and image degradation when viewed at off-anges. A Mobile High Definition Link connection allows for tablets or smartphones to display content on-screen, while embedded speakers and Dual Link DVI, HDMI, and two USB 2.0 ports are also provided.
Currently the Samsung Series 9 is being prelaunched through NewEgg until June 28, with other retailers able to stock the monitor from June 29 onwards for around $1,200.
