Since this week is when The Dark Knight Rises hits the big screen, it is a good time to remind fans that Dark Knight writer David S. Goyer also collaborated with Treyarch’s Dave Anthony on the Black Ops II story. In case you forgot, Goyer also co-wrote Black Ops.
A new video from Treyarch and Activision shows off a bit more footage from the game and features Goyer, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia and Anthony. Goyer notes that in making Black Ops II, “we were approaching it in some ways as a big-event movie. Even though it’s a first-person shooter, it’s got to be sophisticated. It’s got to be funny. It’s got to be challenging. It’s got to have twists and turns,” he says. “I would argue that the story is better than most movies that are being made.”
Also in the video: Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame and an Academy Award-winning film composer for The Social Network. He and co-composer Atticus Ross also scored The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Reznor, who composed the theme for Black Ops II, says that making music for a video game “is every bit as viable as film work or music or anything else.”
Call of Duty: Black Ops II arrives Nov. 13.
